Effective today, April 4, 2018, and without advance notice with regard to the immediate implementation of the changes, Instagram deployed changes to their API affecting all users of the Instagram API for access to Instagram data.
How does Instagram’s API affect Pixlee?
The Instagram API is the technical interface between Pixlee and Instagram – it is how functions such as collecting content from Instagram social media, direct messaging via Instagram, commenting via Instagram, and “liking” via Instagram are provided from the Platform.
Rest assured, user-generated content currently in use on your properties is not affected by these changes and there is no impact on your display widgets.
All content for which you have already obtained consent for use is accessible for display as usual and is not affected.
We are currently working to mitigate the effects of these changes on our Platform and your workflows, but there may be some missing functionality in the Pixlee platform until the dust settles.
What Pixlee functionality has been impacted?
Due to Instagram’s changes, some Platform features may be unavailable – including direct messaging and commenting, “liking” photos, and importing public users’ Instagram content to the Platform.
The good news is that our platform will continue to collect user-generated content from all social media channels and direct up-loaders, and that we are working hard to restore all Instagram services to the greatest extent possible as soon as possible.
At this time, we ask you to reconnect your company’s Instagram account to the Pixlee platform. Steps for doing so are available here. This will help us to migrate your account to the new, approved, Instagram platform.
